Disney's
Disney's "Bambi" now on BluRay and DVD

Disney’s “Bambi” gets a Re-Vamp with Plenty of Family Videos and Games

This classic beautifully illustrated and oh so charming 1942 cartoon begins with the birth of a baby deer named Bambi. Birds are chirping, while a soft melody serenades the viewer. All the forest animals are scampering to see the “Prince of the Forest,” known as Bambi. The small deer is introduced to his new friends, a playful rabbit named Thumper and a very shy skunk named Flower. Bambi wobbles through the woods discovering new delights along the way. With the help of Friend Owl, he learns life lessons at every turn. Bambi’s mother also teaches him the way of the forest and the meadow.

This timeless story is now available for family viewing with many extra features, including games and interactive activities for the family.

Bonus Features:

Backstage Disney: Inside Walt’s Story Meetings. Transcripts of meetings held between the years 1937-1940. Walt describes the opening scene that will set the mood for the film. Other staff members discuss their reasoning behind each scene.

Blu-ray Galleries: A collection of images created for “Bambi”.

Family Play − Games & Activities: Disney’s Big Book of Knowledge, BAMBI Edition − An interactive educational gaming experience that uses the film as a learning tool.

Classic DVD Bonus Features: Covers the making of “Bambi”, the characters, the actors, the art design, the music and the history of Walt Disney’s classic film using behind the scenes footage, production stills, animation, artwork and interviews with performers.

Tricks of the Trade: In an episode from the 1957 Disneyland TV show, Walt narrates the story of the multi-plane camera, an animation innovation crucial to the production of “Bambi”.

Inside the Disney Archives: Disney supervising animator, Andreas Deja guides viewers through Disney’s Animation Research Library, where artwork from past Disney animated feature films is stored, including early story sketches of Bobo the rabbit” (who became Thumper), glass paintings made for the multi-plane camera and more.

The Old Mill: Winner of the 1937 Academy Award® for Best Short Subject/Cartoon, “The Old Mill” was a testing ground for several techniques critical to Walt’s artistic vision for “Bambi”, including the multi-plane camera, animating realistic animals and experimenting with such natural occurrences such as wind, rain and lightning.

DisneyPedia − Bambi’s Forest Friends: Real live footage of baby deer and facts centering on the life of a baby deer. The video continues teaching about each animal in the forest.
