September 12-16 Rockit River North 22 W. Hubbard, Chicago September 15-16 Rockit Wrigley 3700 North Clark, Chicago If you love wings or if you are in the mood for some amazing gourmet food then this is the place to satisfy your taste buds. Our staff recently attended a pre-tasting at the River North location and were very impressed. Chefs Amanda Downing and James Gottwald have been busy creating a spin on the good old chicken wing that’s so popular during football season. We sampled: Polynesian Wings: (scallions, grilled pineapple, rum red pepper glaze) The wings have a smokey, sweet and semi hot flavor. They are finger lickin’ great with a roasted pineapple garnish. Both sweet and hot (but not too hot) they have enough kick and are also a little crunchy. Flavor bursts in your mouth!Greek Wings:(wild oregano, garlic, lemon, feta cheese, tzatziki dip) These wings are a Greek foody’s delight. Light, not sweet, not hot, flavorful oils and garlic. Sauce is a big hit. Similar to a cucumber sauce, light and crisp. Waldorf Wings: (apples, walnuts, apple jack brandy glaze, blue cheese fondue) Here’s a twist on my mother’s own Waldorf salad recipe. The apple slices are a garnish the wings have a sweet glaze with a nutty, crunch walnut taste. The blue cheese fondue is a reduction of cheeses including parmesan and gorgonzola. This sauce was addicting. We couldn’t get enough of it and used it as a dip for their amazing Truffle Oil Fries. Bottom line: Rockit’s chefs are totally thinking out of the box and the public as well as all the millions of foodies out there are the benefactors. The wings we tasted were all unique and worthy of a try. We’d recommend them all. Wings are priced at $10 per dozen.
